The analysis result indicates that conceptual understanding of Botany is considered as low due to the difficulty faced by students in finding an example for each clade and in understanding the scientific terms that are the base of the learning. Results obtained are, among others, the mean of conceptual understanding of Botany and metacognitive skill is 63.07 and 50.15, respectively, which is low based on the achievement score. The research includes quantitative research with descriptive approach. The research is conducted in July 2018 at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta in Phanerogamic Botany course Eudicot sub-course material with 77 students as sample. The research aims to know and analyze the conceptual understanding and metacognitive skill of college students to achieve course objectives. Analysis of conceptual understanding of Botany and metacognitive skill is needed to know to what extent are both aspects of achieving the learning objectives. The achievement of learning objective of Biology, especially Phanerogamic Botany requires several important aspects, namely conceptual understanding and metacognitive skill. Overall the level of metacognition of students both in solving mathematical problems and in mathematics literacy is at the level of Strategic Use metacognition. Students who have high learning outcomes are at the Reflective Use metacognition level, students who have learning outcomes are at the Strategic Use metacognition level, and students who have low learning outcomes are at the Aware Use metacognition level. Meanwhile, the level of student metacognition in mathematics literacy is not much different from solving mathematical problems. In solving mathematical problems, students who have high learning outcomes are at the level of Reflective Use metacognition, students who have learning outcomes are at the Strategic Use metacognition level, and students who have low learning outcomes are at the Tacit Use metacognition level. The results of this study indicate that the level of metacognition of students in solving mathematical problems and mathematical literacy has mixed results. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. Data collected by test and interview methods. The subjects of this study were students of class VII C Middle School 3 Palimanan. This type of research is qualitative research. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Palimanan. This study aims to obtain the results of identification of students' level of metacognition in problem-solving and the level of metacognition of students in mathematical literacy on social arithmetic material. Solving mathematical problems requires the involvement of metacognition. Metacognition is knowledge and awareness about the process of cognition or learning about the mind and how it works.
